The Rakshyadevi Temple is located in Hetauda-6, on a hillock about 7 km east of Hetauda Bazaar and northeast of Chaughada Bazaar, with tempo and bus services available to reach it. According to Nar Bahadur Rai, the then Vice-Chairman of the Narayani Zone Panchayat, about 300 years ago, four families migrated from Sipa and Mandan villages of the eastern Kavre district, established the Rakshadevi deity, and settled here; the name 'Chaughada' (meaning four houses) originated from these four households. Alternatively, some believe the name Chaughada was derived because people welcomed King Prithvi Narayan Shah's Gorkhali army by placing four water pots (Ghada) when they returned victorious from the Sen Kingdom of Makwanpurgadhi. Initially, only the Rai and Danuwar communities had a tradition of performing annual worship here on Margsheersha Purnima and the Mondays of Jyeshtha, but since 1979 (2036 V.S.), the temple was constructed with the collective cooperation of all castes, who now perform community worship together. Currently, there is a tradition where 56 households contribute 1 Mana of rice each and a pair of clothes to the priest, and since the location is close to Chaughada Bazaar, it is well-managed for food and snacks.
