Dakshinkali Temple

Description

The Dakshinkali Temple is located in Hetauda-5, at the edge of the eastern forest, approximately 2 km east of Hetauda Bazaar. Conceived by the current chairman Narayan Prasad Paudel and treasurer Prakash Babu Malla, the decision to construct this temple was made during a local gathering on Jestha 15, 2067 V.S., so that local devotees of Hetauda would not have to travel all the way to Pharping to worship Goddess Dakshinkali. Around one Bigha of land from the Piple Pokhara Community Forest has been utilized to build the temple, party venues, pilgrim rest houses (Pauwa), drinking water systems, and restrooms. With the cooperation of the Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, DDC Makwanpur, and local residents, the structural construction completed so far has cost around 40 lakh rupees, excluding voluntary labor. Built as an exact replica of the main Dakshinkali Goddess of Pharping, this is the first temple in Makwanpur where the eight Ashtamatrika goddesses—Shri Ganesh, Shri Brahmayani, Shri Maheshwari, Shri Kaumari, Shri Vaishnavi, Shri Barahi, Shri Indrayani, and Shri Dakshinkali—are worshipped together. Huge crowds of devotees gather here during the Ashwin Shukla Paksha Navaratri until the tenth day of Vijaya Dashami, as well as during various other festivals. Since picnic utensils and other necessities are available for rent, many people also choose this temple to conduct weddings and Bratabandha ceremonies.
