Bhairab Danda is located on a high hill in Hetauda-1, approximately 4 km west of Hetauda Bazaar, and can be reached via a mix of partially concreted and unpaved dirt roads. It is believed that the place was named Bhairab Danda because a sacred Bhairab site (Bhairab Sthan) was established here during the Sen dynasty period. During the regime of Rana Prime Minister Padma Shamsher, a local named Manorath Gautam submitted a petition requesting permission to settle the area, subsequently receiving an official royal decree (Khadga Nishana) for 24 Bighas of land in the month of Ashwin, 2004 V.S. (1947 A.D.), after which human settlement gradually expanded in the region. According to the local elders, worshiping at this Bhairab site with a pure heart fulfills one's wishes, drawing devotees to visit for prayers especially on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Currently, there is no large temple building for Bhairab here, but rather a traditional sacred shrine (Than). Shops offering tea and snacks are available at this location for visitors.
